Seminar „Emotions in Multimedia Computing“
Emotional Computing is computing that relates to, arises from, or deliberately influences human emotions. Emotions are fundamental to human experience, influencing cognition, perception, and everyday tasks such as learning, communication, and decision-making. However, computer scientists have largely ignored emotion and created an often frustrating experience for people. In this seminar we will discuss the role of emotions in multimedia systems.

Seminar topics can be (but are not limited to)

  • Principles of Good User Interfaces
  • Famous Errors in User Interfaces: Karl Klammer (engl: Clippy), the Windows Start Button, iDrive in a BMW
  • Detecting Human Emotions at the User Interface
  • Computers Reacting “Emotionally”
  • Analysis and Synthesis of Facial Expressions
  • Text Analysis for Emotions
  • Sensors and Sensor Fusion Detecting Human Emotions
  • Emotional Devices (e.g., Tamagotchi, Aibo)
  • Mood Detection from Short Text Messages
  • OSN User Behavior Models
